“Before Abraham was I Am.” (John 8)
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
There was a television program, “long ago and in a galaxy far, far away,” called, “Kids Say The Strangest Things” which I think was a spin-off from another old show called, “Candid Camera.” The title of this program tells you what it was about, so I’ll not go into that.
It could be said likewise, “Christ-ians say the strangest things.” or “Christ-ians say the silliest things.” And we, as a matter of fact do, say some things that are thought to be strange by the uninitiated, the unsaved, the wicked, the lost, the reprobated, the unrighteous, the children of disobedience, the children of wrath, and the children of (s)atan. Strange and silly they may be to “them” but to us, it is accepted truth just as it is accepted truth that grass is green and the red light means stop, fire burns, and we be immortal being.
Why and what are some of the strange things we say? First (1st) the why. Why do we say such things that are thought strange and silly? We Say these things because…
*They are found in the Word of God.
*We believe and hope in them.
*Many of the truths written in God’s Word have been proven true, such as prophecy, answered prayers and changed lives and the persecution of the believers.
*We are told to say to others what we read in Scripture.
*And the big one and I like to think, the main one: We say these things or we speak these words because He did, because Christ said them and spoke them into our hearts and made them true and real within us. Why do we speak these truths, that are thought strange and silly? Because of THE Cause, because of the Author and the Finisher of our faith. We speak these truths because He did and does through us and through His Living Word.
The above are some of the reasons why we say what we say, below we shall look at (DV) what we say that is strange and silly to others:
We believe and say, Christ was born from a virgin. To the world, this is biologically impossible and non-sense, even though these wise idiots think life came from non-life. When a “worldly wise man” or scientist hears of the virgin birth, everything after that is fiction. I know this to be true. It was said to this writer’s face, that there cannot be a virgin birth…it is impossible, the virgin birth was a cover story for the birth of an illegitimate bastard child of a teen aged girl, because virgin, in the Bible, means “young maiden” and not what we consider to be a virgin. This very accomplished member of MENSA said all of that to my face, while others watched, some laughing and others moving, fearing a lightning strike. No one was killed that day by lightning strike, but I am glad to report some of the watchers were, in fact, struck by the Light of the Glorious Gospel years later. A seed planted and a seed watered…to God be the Glory for the increase.
Reader, it is true, virgin does mean young maiden in Scripture, but God does not leave us speechless, at such a charge, from such a smart MENSA member. We pointed out to her that she was correct, however, the Gospel goes on to say Mary, the young maiden, “knew not man.” To our reply she fell into a fallacy of giggles and “whatever.” This wise and so very smart member of MENSA based her unbelief upon the virgin birth of Christ, however, I know not if she ever based any belief upon the sword that struck her unbelief at it’s very heart. Her unbelief was based on a stool, and one of the legs broke.
What are some other “strange and silly” things we say?
*God is the Creator and Maintainer of all things.
*We are born into sin and with murdered spirits because of Adam and Eve were deceived by the serpent.
*There was a great flood that covered the Earth and man named Noah build an Ark that saved the lives that found grace in God’s Eyes.
*The Red Sea was parted.
*We believe the Ten Commadments are Divively written.
*Jonah was swollowed by a great fish.
*Dinosaurs were contemporary with man, if one cannot believe the Bible on this point, just watch the “Flintstones.” HA! HA!
*Many Jews were saved from the poison of fiery serpents by looking at a symbol.
*A Man called Jesus walked on water.
*A Man called Jesus fed thousands and thousands of persons with a little boy’s lunch and a small amount of fish and bread.
*A Man called Jesus raised persons from the dead, healed persons from all manner of sickness, and cast out demons from many a person.
*A Man called Jesus forgave sinners, an act reserved for God Alone, making Himself God Incarnate.
*A Man called Jesus faced all manner of trials, tribulations, and temptations, yet remained sinless.
*A Man called Jesus was made sin for all who would believe and was crucified and killed.
*A Man called Jesus, after being three (3) days dead, rose from the dead, was resurrected from death and Lived again and for ever.
*This Man called Lord Jesus ascended into Heaven, where He sits at His Fathers Right Hand and awaits the time for His return to Earth, and intercedes for each of His own, and decides and answers prayers according to His will, and upholds all things.
*This Man called Lord Jesus shall return and make all things right, “Behold, I make all things new.”
Reader,
We speak these truth, we live and hope according to these truths, we say these, strange and silly, things to some, because… He did and… and He does even today through His Word, through His Word that shall not ever, ever, ever fail, nor faulter one (1) jot or one (1) tittle. His Word and His Words in His Word are the Same as The Great God-Man Christ Jesus Himself, They are and He is Faithful and For-ever.
