“The Christ-ian Witness” Or “The Man Of God” Or “The Woman Of God”

“And the elders of the town trembled at [Samuel’s] coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably? And [Samuel] said, Peaceably: I am come…”  (1 Samuel 16)

“Blessed above  women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.”  (Judges 5)

The Christ-ian witness is a noun and a verb.  The Christ-ian witness is a person and the Christ-ian witness is an action.  They are one in the same. The Christ-ian witness is one that witnesses to the reality of the Lord Jesus. The reality that He was crucified, His Body put into a tomb, and that He rose again on the third (3rd) day just as He said He would. This Bodily resurrection proves all that He said prior.  The Resurrection proves His Deity, and His atoning work.

The Resurrection of Christ also proves the abundant life available to all that will believe. The Resurrection proves that His return is a reality and a hope that all Christ-ians should hold close to their hearts.

We do not claim to be witnesses to the actual Resurrection, no, not at all. We do claim and should claim to be witnesses to our own spiritual resurrection though. Whereas once we were dead in trespasses and sins, but now we are ALIVE. This would not be possible if He did not rise from the dead. Our changed lives would not be possible if He did not rise from the dead, as a leopard does not change his spots nor does the Ethiopian change the color of the skin. Persons do not change, lest they become New Creatures in Christ.

This article is about the ways of a witness. Some persons, when they hear witness, think of door knocking and a plastic and rehearsed presentation of the Gospel in some form. This is not what I’m talking about.  God has put a circle of persons around you, this is your mission field.

Notice something about Samuel and Jael, Their reputations preceded them. One should always be prepared to testify to the saving grace of God through the works of Christ. There is noi doubt in that at all. However, Once it is known that one is a Christ-ian, a dedicated Christ-ian, that is the witness.  One stands as a lighthouse to all that knows faith resides in you. Once you have established yourself as a Christ-ian, possibly the Christ-ian in the work place, the only Christ-ian in the work place, you have witnessed to the faith. One “witnesses” to strangers but one is a witness, the witness to those that know you.

Know this, your witness will be the witness against others when they face God.  Witnessing and being a witness is a double edged sword.  It may bring someone into the Light or it will be someone’s condemnation. To be a witness and to witness to others is serious business with eternal consequences. We as Christ-ians be as Noah.  His righteousness condemned the world. Our witness and imputed righteousness does the same.

In summary:
We witness to strangers, but we are witnesses to those around us.

“Let your light so shine…”
