“[H]e hath made us accepted in the [B]eloved.” (Ephesians 1)
“I’ve accepted Jesus into my heart.” “Will you accept Jesus into your heart?” “I will accept Jesus into my heart.”
Reader,
Our Lord Jesus is not accepted or acceptable. One receives the Lord Jesus (John 1). One repents and believes in the Lord Jesus. One believes on the Lord Jesus. One submits to the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus is received by those to whom He is presented to. One believes in the Lord Jesus to whom it is given to believe in the Lord Jesus (Philippians 1:29).
*Does an Olympic athlete “accept” the gold medal?
*Does a veteran “accept” a medal that honours him or her?
*Does a celebrity “accept” their Oscar award?
*A losing contestant on a TV game show accepts the consolation prize.
*An employee who was expecting a great bonus, accepts a much smaller bonus.
The emphasis on the word accept is acceptable. Christ is not an acceptable Lord. Christ is not an acceptable Saviour. Christ is not an acceptable God. Christ is not an acceptable Master. Christ is THE Lord. Christ is THE ONLY Saviour. Christ is THE LIVING God. Christ is our ONLY Master.
Reader, You have repented and believed in Christ. You have Believed on Christ. You have submitted to Christ’s Lordship. You have received the Lord Jesus as your Only Saviour.
Reader, You did not ACCEPT Him. He Accepted you.
