“For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive, another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.”  (2 Corinthians 11)

 

I  have been a watcher of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” ever since it premiered. This program premiered twenty (20) years ago. I was twenty-five and my Beautiful wife was twenty-one (21). We lived in a small duplex. In this duplex, we had one bedroom, a bath with no shower, and a teeny tiny kitchen. Our couch was two (2) bean bags. We had a little tv and a pet rabbit, named Grace, and a cat called Jed in our little home. AND a bat YES, we had a bat, but that is a story for another day. Good Grief, we even had a crow for a while too. On Tuesday nights my wife and I would watch “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”  It was our show.  THEN OUT OF NO WHERE, Debbie is with child. We had to move into an actual house as our family (Praise God to the Highest) was growing. The Lord….the Lord He, in His own way, pin pointed the house that would become our home.

In our new home and with a new baby, we still watched Buffy.  I know, but let us get something out of the way, I know some Christ-ians thought it wrong that a Christ-ian family like ourselves should not watch such shows. If persons would have shut their mouths and just watched, they would have found a lot of good theology in the Buffy show. This program dealt with contemporary issues at that time.  Many, many, so many young girls and boys AND A PREACHER would glean much from this program. The show factualized Noah’s Ark, the show factualized the Cross of Christ and the Resurrection, the show facualized the Holy Spirit, in a way, descending upon God’s elect (Remember, this is only a televisionn show). The Slayer was one (1) chosen girl to slay all evil. Who did the choosing? see my point?

Pastors could learn a lot from this series. The Gospel is all over the show.  Why did a stake kill a vampire?  Because of the Cross! Ironically, the writer and director of the show is an atheist! BUT The show had sound theology. Molech was a monster that had to be put down. Molech from Scripture. The Slayer wears a cross necklace, how is that not good stuff? AND there was one of the actresses that found God in her preparations for her part…..actually, He found her…Calvinism!!!….This actress then left the show to sing and speak in churches.

So what is my point? How does a silly minded reboot of Buffy fit into Christ-ianity and theology?

The new rebooted Buffy is black. A black girl playing the part of Buffy. The internet went crazy after hearing this news. Buffy fans said NO, No, No. There cannot be another person playing the slayer and named Buffy. No way, no how. These fans are outraged.

Again, what does this show have to do with Christ-ianity?

The passages above state that there is “another” Jesus and “another Gospel” parading itself as the true Christ and the true Gospel. Paul tells us that angels will come with new news, [SideNote: The Mormons and the Muslims fit into Paul’s warning, in reguards to the angel gospel]  but the flock should not accept the new news. Christ told us that fake Christs would abound. Reader, There are many Jesus’, Do you know the right One? Many, many, many persons, people, and peoples think they know Christ, as they/you(?) made Him in their own image. He is what they want Him to be: meek and mild,  white with blue eyes and blonde hair, or black and muslim. (Research for your selves).

But there is no other Christ and there is not a new Gospel, not then (with the Galatians) and not now. Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God. There is no other Gospel. The Gospels speak to Christ’s Life and Passion. And Hollywood depicting Him As a Black man cannot discourage us, as they are tipping the scale of their sin cup, that they will be made to drink to the dregs.

Christ IS the Son of God. The Word became flesh and dwelt among the privlieged persons to look upon Him. And there is no other Way, but by The Lord Jesus Christ, He is the Door, the Gate, He is the Only Way to Eternity. Buddism, Hinduism, Mormons, J.W.’s and Allah are only (s)atan rebooted.
