“Blessed are the poor in spirit…are they that mourn…are the meek…are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness…are the merciful…are the pure in heart…are the peacemakers…are they which are persecuted… (Matthew 5)
Reader, the above passages have a surprising source for all of the blessings. I suppose I gave away the answer to my next question in the first (1st) two (2) titles above. The source is sin. You heard or read me right. It it sin that is the reason for all the blessing above!!! I know there are a number of varied responses to the above statements.
Some of the varied responses include:
*”Heretic…he’s written some crazy things before but this is the craziest.”
*”This goes against everything I have ever been taught.”
*”Sin is the curse upon our world and in no way serves God.”
*”Interesting.”
*”I’m glad this guy is not a part of my denomination anymore.”
*”No…just no!!!!!!!!!!!”
The above are just some of the responses some may have. By the end of the article, if you read on, you might just be saying something a little different.
Reader, Can you think of another source for the quoted verses above? What should cause us to be poor in spirit? to mourn,? to be meek,? to cause us to hunger/thirst after righteousness? to cause us to be merciful to others? Is it not sin? What brings us to be pure in heart, but the death of sin? What causes us to be peacemakers and to be persecuted? What brings us to be persecuted but the purity of our hearts and to become peacemakers between others and Christ?
Much of Scripture has to do with the court room. Think of some of the terms one finds in the Scriptures:
*Law
*Guilty
*Judge
*Justify
*Shall
*Punishment
*Great white Throne
*None righteous.
There is an interesting dynamic in our court of law. This dynamic has to do with the admission of evidence. There is a hearing prior to the trial. This hearing is to decide upon what evidence will be allowed. The judge will decide what will be entered and what will be disqualified from the trial and what will be and not be allowed for the jury to hear. Evidence that will prejudice the jury, against the defendent, will not be allowed.
For example if a police officer mentions a criminal’s parole violations or the criminal’s parole officer, during the trial, it can cause a mistrial. As the criminal’s past violations were deemed inadmissable by the judge at the evidential hearing mentioned above. This has happened. It could play out like this,
-Police officer: The defendent’s parole officer and I arrived……
-Defence attorney: Objection…objection.
-Judge: Sustained.
*Police Office: UGH!!!
The judge will have no option but to declare a mis-trial as the police officer inadvertenly mentioned the parole officer. The court system is in the favour of the defense always, as it is better that a guilty man go free than an innocent man go to prison.
HOWEVER, Let’s keep the scene the same as above, but this time the defense mentions the parole office by mistake. By mentioning the parole officer the defense has brought in the evidence that was deemed inadmissablle. Because of this greatest of blunders, the persecution can now use it against the criminal.
How does the above court scene relate to our posit that sin is a blessing? The devil is the defense attorney that brought sin into play and God is the Persecutor, Who will now use it against the devil and for us. God, being Holy, would not bring or introduce sin into the court room of life. It is the wise prosecuting attorney that can cause the defense team to mention something that was before unadmissable. For example:
*Prosecutor: Mr. X, Who kicked in your door that morning?
*Defense: Objecti.
*Criminal: My parole officer, sir.
*Judge: Over-ruled.
*Persecutor: Your Honour! The defendant has introduced evidence that was before judged inadmissable.
*Judge: You are in order, Mr. Prosecutor.
*Judge: The court will now recognize this piece of evidence.
Now that sin has been introduced into creation, God will use it for the good of, what will become, His people. How does sin now benefit us, as God’s people?
*With sin introduced, the Word would “be made flesh and [would] dwell among us.”
*With sin introduced, God’s people will be a meek and humble people, always hungering and thirsting after righteousness; Christ is our Righteousness.
*With sin introduced, The Godhead will be greatly glorified by sin’s defeat and all of Heaven will rejoice over one (1) sinner that repents and believes.
*With sin introduced, the forgiven sinner made saint, will always be seeking God and will always be walking with God.
*ETC.
Before He was the Christ, before He was the Lord Jesus, He “was the [Eternal] Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” As things are; without sin in the world, without sin in us, without sin on us, the Second (2nd) Person of the Trinity would not have “been made flesh..” Sin is the reason for our Lord’s Manifestation. Sin is the reason His Name would be called “Jesus,” meaning Saviour. Sin is the reason that our Lord Jesus lived a perfectly sinless life, was unlawfully murdered on a criminal’s Cross, and rose from the dead; justifying and sanctifying His ownly people and creating a new creature in Himself, and for Himself…a peculiar people unto Himself. Without sin, none of this would be.
How does sin benefit you? Let us answer that question with a question. How would you feel if you overcame all your sin and began living a sinless life? How would you feel? What would happen in and to your spiritual life?
Human nature being human nature, your humility would fly out the window, quick and fast. You would not run to God and confess your SIN and sins as you would be living a sinless life. Reader, it is sin that brings us time after time to the throne of grace, seeking Fatherly Forgiveness and finding that very foregiveness…………..(GOD is so GOoD). You also find COMFORT AND MERCY AND A RENEWED HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
IT is sin that keeps you humble. IT is that besetting sin that keeps you humble, IT is that pet sin(s) that keep(s) you humble. Without sin there would be unbridled and unadulterated PRIDE.
The word, keep and keeps can mean to guard, as in “keep it and dress it.” Because of sin, our humility is guarded. Because of sin, we run to God and stay with God. Is not running to GOD and staying with GOD beneficial to you? Sin does that, sin causes that, sin provokes that, sin makes that possible.
With sin introduced, the Great and GOoD GODhead would be, will be, is Glorified by the defeat of sin, the death of sin, the dispatchment of sin, the destruction of sin AND…AND…AND…THE DESTRUCTION, THE DISPATCHMENT, THE DEATH AND THE DEFEAT OF THE (d)EVIL!!!
We are told, by Truth Himself, that all of Heaven rejoices over one (1) sinner that repents. Without sin there would be no rejoicing over the multitudes and multitudes and multitudes of sinners, who repent and believe the Truth; the Truth Who is the Lord Jesus.
SIN is the causation of our perpetually and provoking penitence before GOD. It is sin that causes us to perpetually be seeking GOD. It is sin that provokes us to the confession of SIN and sins before our FATHER. It is SIN that brings us to the state of penitence or repentance before God. It is because of the corruption, the disease, the monster, the cancer, that we stay near GOD, our FATHER and that we love our LORD Jesus, and that we walk with and in the Holy Spirit of GOD in Christ.
Reader, This is not an encouragement to sin, no, not at all, GOD FORBID!!! SIN and sins are bad, evil, wicked, and wrong. SIN and sins are to be eshewed, to be hated, to be mortified, to be prayed against and, some sweet day, overcome and done away with. SIN and sins are in no way good. Sin and sins however, are made a useful tool to GOD. SIN and sins are used by GOD to bring about all of the above. GOD takes evil and makes it useful. GOD uses introduced SIN and sins to and for HIS advantage. This, in a way, causes SIN and sins to Glorify GOD. SIN and sins show the Greatness of GOD’s Sovereignty and how HE will make all things work together for our good, for those of us that are the called of God and for those of us that love and are loved by GOD.
One (1) other way sin can be useful: When a devil taunts you, when a devil tries to cause doubt about your salvation, when a devil throws your sin in your face, when a devil speaks the most perverse thoughts into your head during prayer, give him a GREAT BIG BELLY LAUGH and say, O’ (d)evil, “My Lord’s Blood killed you and your SIN and sins…Get thee behind me, The Lord rebuke thee.”
The Christ-ian that is always thinking about his or her sin doesn’t get it….doesn’t get the Cross. They, themselves are chained to the Cross, instead of living a Resurrected life with Christ.
The Christ-ian that thinks always about his or her Lord and Saviour, the Destroyer of Sin and sins…………………………………………..Blessed, thou truly art.
