“I Don’t Understand That…I Just Love Jesus” Or “That’s Too Deep For Me” Or “I’m Just Not A Reader”

“I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hither to ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are carnal…  (Romans 3)

How many times have I heard a believer (maybe) say to me, ” That’s just to deep for me, I just love Jesus.”  For future reference, Reader, that offends me.  “I just love Jesus,”  that phrase is contemptable.  If a person “just loves Jesus” they would have their heads buried in the Scriptures and in books written by God’s faithful servants. IE. Dead men.  When the person says, “just” they think that gets them off the hook for not looking into the Word of God!!!

Reader, Remember, it was Peter that spoke of his great love for Christ just before he denied Him.  John saw that and for that reason (maybe), he calls himself, “the disciple whom Jesus Loved” in his Gospel.  Do you see the difference?  One should not brag upon one’s, “I just love Jesus.” In the stead of heaping glory upon one’s self, one should Glory in the Love wherewith Christ loved us and gave Himself for us.

Reader, I hope and trust that you are not a believer that thinks it’s “the pastor’s job” to feed you with spiritual meat. This type of believer is like a baby bird, ugly, skrawney, and lookng up for the mother bird to drop worms into the baby bird’s beak. I trust and hope that those who read these articles are the species of believers that want to look into the things of God in His Word and do not “Just love Jesus.”

What would one think if a person proclaimed love for another person, but is not interested in anything about the so-called be-loved? What If a boy/girl friend isn ‘t interested in the family of their be-loved? What if the b/g friend isn’t interested in the thoughts of their beloved? What if the b/g friend does not appreciate or respect all the plans that the beloved has?

Do you see where I’m going with this analogy?  If one loves another, one would be hyper interested and excited in all things of that beloved. That is how love works. Two (2) persons are really interested in each other and that loving interest (Blest by God) is a binding force.

So, if a person that “just loves Jesus;”  is serious about that love s/he would be lovingly interested in the Lovely Lord and His Word, Right?

There is no excuse for a believer to be Biblically ignorant. There is no reason for a believer to be shallow and it be accepted.

The Godhead commands two (2) things from us…Read your Bible with diligence and with a determined intention to learn. The second thing is pray.  It’s that simple; Read your Bible and Pray.

“I’m just not a reader” this tripe is unacceptable.  If one loves the Lord Jesus, would one not “search the Scriptures,” and find Christ? The answer is in the affirmative.

“The Bible is too deep for me, I just couldn’t understand it.”  This too, is unacceptable. What is really being said is “I don”t want to read the Bible, I have too many things to do.” The Catholics think this or rather, Many Catholics believe they cannot understand the Scriptures. These are in bondage to their priests for sure….”I was born a Catholic, I went to Catholic High School, so i’ll die a Catholic is a mantra of their very own.  Christ would say to them, “You will die in your sins.”
